Position #01:
Graduation Project Researcher
Designing a Next-Generation Distributed Freelance Platform for Collective Livelihoods
About No-Land
No-Land is a distributed collective working across design, education, media, and service strategy. We are currently developing a long-term initiative to transform No-Land from a distributed educational network into a regenerative socio-economic infrastructure connecting:
• livelihoods
• learning
• distributed collaboration
• platform experimentation
• cooperative workflows
The project has shaped in response to shrinking opportunities, infrastructural instability, and the need for collective resilience and alternative livelihood systems. We are looking for a graduation student interested in:
• platform economies
• distributed systems
• service and systems design
• AI-supported workflows
• cooperative infrastructures
• future of work
• digital labor ecosystems
This is not a conventional UX/UI graduation project. It is a strategic, analytical, and operational systems-design project grounded in real experiments happening inside No-Land.
Main Research Focus
The project investigates questions such as:
• What can emerging freelance platforms learn from:
o Upwork
o Contra
o Fiverr
o Freelancer
o Braintrust
o Toptal
o other niche and cooperative models
• How do current freelance platforms structure:
o trust
o coordination
o pricing
o proposals
o reputation
o workflows
• What are the limitations of existing freelance platforms?
• What would a next-generation distributed and cooperative platform look like?
• How could AI systems support:
o proposal generation
o workflow coordination
o task routing
o trust systems
o project decomposition
• How can a platform emerge from real workflows and distributed collaboration instead of abstract startup assumptions?
Main Responsibilities
1. Platform & Ecosystem Analysis
• Research existing platforms as well as niche and cooperative freelance models
• Analyze:
o service models
o proposal systems
o workflow structures
o pricing systems
o trust mechanisms
o governance logic
o niche opportunities
o platform mechanics
2. AI & Future Workflow Research
• Investigate:
o current and future role of AI in freelance ecosystems
o AI-supported proposal systems
o AI-assisted coordination
o workflow automation
o AI-supported operational infrastructures
o collaborative AI systems
o AI-supported service packaging and routing
3. Strategic Proposal Development
• Develop:
o strategic frameworks
o platform/service models
o positioning proposals
o startup proposal directions
• The final outcome could become:
o a startup proposal
o a speculative operational model
o a platform prototype
4. Platform & Prototype Exploration
• Work with the existing No-Land system and explore:
o how it could evolve into a lightweight operational platform
o how workflows could be structured
o how AI ideas could be implemented or prototyped
o how distributed collaboration could function operationally
•This may include:
o low/mid fidelity prototyping
o service blueprinting
o workflow prototyping
o AI feature proposals
5. Collaboration with the Operational Team
The project is connected to a real operational initiative. You will collaborate with:
o the research team
o the design delivery team
o ongoing workflow and platform experiments
This means the research is continuously informed by real operational conditions rather than isolated desktop assumptions.
Desired Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
o analytically strong
o capable of systems thinking
o comfortable with ambiguity
o interested in platform economies and alternative infrastructures
o interested in AI-supported systems
o capable of proposal writing and synthesis

o Possibility of future collaboration with No-Land
Format
o Graduation collaboration
o Flexible / remote / hybrid
o Preferably based in Europe
o Duration depends on university framework

Position #02:
Internship
Freelance Platform Research and Opportunity Lab Intern
About the Role
No-Land is developing a distributed infrastructure that connects freelance work, design services and education.
As part of this initiative, we are looking for an intern who will help us identify opportunities, acquire projects, understand freelance platforms, and support collaboration between an international team and a distributed design team.
This is a highly practical internship. You will not only study freelance platforms, you will actively use them, test them, and help bring real projects into the network.
What Your Typical Day Looks Like
Your work will be divided between four interconnected activities:
Opportunity Scouting & Proposals
• Every day you will:
o Manage No-Land's accounts on freelance platforms
o Search for relevant projects that matches the design team capabilities
o Prepare and submit proposals
o Track proposal outcomes
o Experiment with different positioning strategies
o Identify promising niches and repeatable services
• Platforms may include:
o Upwork
o Contra
o Freelancer
o PeoplePerHour
o Other niche platforms
2. Collaboration with the Design Team
• You will work closely with the distributed design team through regular online meetings:
o Presenting opportunities found on freelance platforms
o Discussing project requirements with the team
o Understanding available skills and capacities
o Participating in project reviews and reflections
3. Platform & Market Research
• Part of your time will be dedicated to understanding how freelance ecosystems work:
o Mapping freelance platforms
o Benchmarking service models
o Studying proposal systems
o Analyzing niches and opportunities
o Observing platform trends
o Researching the future of freelance work and AI-supported services
• The goal is not academic research, but generating actionable insights that can improve No-Land's strategy and operations.
4. Portfolio & Presence Development
• Together with the team, you will help build the public-facing presence of No-Land:
o Developing online portfolios
o Organizing project case studies
o Creating presentation materials
o Improving profile visibility
o Developing proposal templates
o Maintaining and improving No-Land's presence on freelance platforms
Desired Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
o Proactive
o Highly organized
o Curious about digital work ecosystems
o Comfortable searching and communicating daily
o Interested in startups, platforms, and the future of work
o Comfortable working in distributed international teams
--Important--
This is not a passive research internship. You will actively help:
o Bring in opportunities
o Test workflows
o Support project acquisition
o Improve operational systems
o Connect opportunities with delivery teams
o Contribute to the development of a new infrastructure model
What You Will Gain
o Direct involvement in an early-stage venture and infrastructure initiative
o Experience with international distributed collaboration
o Real-world exposure to freelance platform economies
o Experience in proposal writing and opportunity scouting
o Access to strategic discussions and platform experimentation
o Opportunity to work on real projects and real clients
o Possibility of future collaboration with No-Land
Format
• Opportunity-Based Compensation
While this internship does not currently include a fixed salary, we believe people should participate in the value they help create. Interns may therefore receive a share of the revenue generated from projects they help identify, develop, and secure for the network. Details will be discussed with selected candidates.
