Design in Construction

Semester 1, 25-26

In sessions 6-8 of our course "Unseen, Unasked and Counter-Learning of Design", We talked about the relationships between technologies and society. We took a glance at the technological scene and discussed our experience of living in this changing world. We reflected on how the complexities of human s and society can bring out the double-sided nature of technologies and change the landscape of possibilities. We learned about multi-dimensional lenses as tools for gaining a social understanding of technologies and attempted to map technologies regarding interpretive flexibility. Eventually we investigated how the lens of Constructivism might help shift our practice as designers, to designing for human agency and we dived deeper into it through hands-on team projects and inquiries.
